This is not technically a somerset west event since it
happened at gateway mall in hermanus, but as i got in
my car and was about to leave, with my drivers window
wide open, a guy pulled up next to me in a smart blue
kia car. his windows were wound down and as he looked
at me , i could sense that he was , how can i say , "
pumped up " .....and so was his physique.....looked like a
body builder or something.
anyway, just before i start my engine , he pulls in next
to me, quite quickly i might add and starts talking to me,
but milliseconds before he does that, he makes a
forward movement and retrieves something from his
right side.
i could not see clearly what it was because he quickly
put it down on the passenger seat in his car and i could
not see what it was from my car.
this smartly dressed " pumped up" ( mentally and
physically ) guy in this pretty decent looking new car
starts to ask me for money because he says he is
desperate and his wife and kids are stranded.
i just got the feeling this guy was up to no good at all
and said to him " sir , i am sorry but i cannot help you " ,
started my car and put it in reverse.
i glanced at him as i was doing so and there was a look
of rage in his eyes. i backed up out of the parking and
drove off.
as i glanced back, i saw that he too was now backing up
out of his parking and simultaneously throwing me "
that look "
i knew trouble was brewing, lifted my cellphone from
the middle console, stopped and turned around to face
him head on, lifted my cellphone and was about to take
a photo.
in an instant , he pulls up next to me, jumps out of his
car and starts shouting at me that if i want to take a
**** photo of his **** car he will take that **** piece
of **** in out my hand and shove up my **** ass open
my door and then bash my head in the car door,
i drive forward into a busier area to avoid his
provocation, spot a policevan with a cop in it, handbrake
my car , get out and tell the cop that this guy in the guy
in the car behind us just threatened physically
threatened me with assualt without provocation .
cop say's which guy, which car, i say, " there, just
behind us " but when i look up , i see the car has already
vanished.
i show the cop the photo of the car, registration and all.
he gets on his radio and tells other cops in hermanus to
look out for a blue kia sedan , registration: " bravo
tango zero two delta zulu golf papa "......in other
words , registration : bt 02 dz gp .
cop tells me to go straight to police station and report
incident as " intimidation with intention to do bodily
harm "
i go to cop station. cop on duty tells me , " waste of time
to make a case against the guy ....it will just end up in
mediation and nothing will come of it.......rather just
leave your details here and i will call you if we find
him.......all units on the road have been briefed and we
will find him."
well, after one hour of my searching the town for him
myself and apparently all cop cars searching for him, we
found diddly squat.
i went back to cop station and told the cop, " i tell you
what, you find this guy and i will give you r500 cash just
for goodwill .
cop says " don't fret, we'll find him "
we get hold of the traffic department and trace the
owner of vehicle as a mr d p maritz of address : 3
tennyson drive, tulisa park, johannesburg................but
no phone number information at all , which , according
to the cop on duty, is quite unusual since most often ,
according to him, there is a contact number.
with nothing else to go on, i go home and google the
few details i have with absolutely no joy whatsoever.
all i succeed in doing is finding where 3 tennyson drive
is in tulisa park in joburg on google maps.
haven't heard a word from the cops, nothing.
i was just going about my day when this happened and
had actually just walked out of the local health shop
after having a great and enjoyable chat with the shop
owner.
it seems we live in a country where people can do
whatever the hell they like to other people without
consequence.
the guy clearly had a screw loose, was physically
massive and enraged at my refusal to just give him
money, in spite of not ever having seen him before or
knowing him from a bar of soap.
man i don't need this kind of rubbish in my life. i have
never in my life seriously considered purchasing and
using a firearm as i don't believe in using unecessary
lethal force but todays incident and the uselessness of
the cops , in spite of there being a cop van right on the
scene at the time, is making consider going this route.
i did nothing to the guy and he threatens to bash my
head to a pulp with my car door.
no man , not cool.

you can see him sticking his thumb up out of the window
as if to say " see if i give a **** "
nothing i can do. case closed and another potentially
pleasant day messed up by an asshole. viva south africa
