r/e: driving behaviour of coal and chromium ore trucks in
schoemanskloof
my name is elisabeth pienaar id number:
5106160089082 and i am living in schoemanskloof
approximately 50 kilometres before nelspruit. we
experienced lately a massive increase in numbers of
mining coal / ore carriers in schoemanskloof on their
way from the mines in roossenekal area via lydenburg,
via schoemanskloof to maputo.
apart from the damage done to the roads and the fact
that they do not pay any toll fees there are other matters
of greater importance.
we experience daily dangerous driving habits of some of
these drivers. basic rules of the road are blatantly
ignored by these drivers, i had an awkward situation
yesterday 27th of march 2021 at approximately 12:18
coming from mbombela at a high accident zone at
poplar creek, going uphill which is a “no pass zone” for
heavy duty vehicles. as i was passing these trucks, one
of the trucks came out and pushed me into the lane of
oncoming traffic. because of the size of the trucks they
drive, there is no consideration for other smaller
vehicles on the road.
this driver is going to kill other road users.
